Made one at a time, for people trying to live a little slower.

I've always been a pen-and-paper person, but at a previous job, my favorite boss introduced me to the world of planners and the beautiful leather covers made for them.

I quickly became obsessed. I loved my planners and the routine of having everything written down in one place, but when it came to the covers, I could never find one that really felt like me. I wanted something unique. Something personal. Something that didn't feel like everyone else already had it.

Everything I found was either too simple, too polished or just not quite right. I wanted something beautiful, but I also wanted it to have character. Something I could carry every day, beat up a little, and somehow love even more a few years later.

So eventually, I started making what I couldn't find.

That became HAYDS.

I started HAYDS with the belief that the things that hold the most personal parts of our lives should feel personal too. Our journals, planners and Bibles end up holding so much more than paper. They hold prayers, grocery lists, big ideas, work notes, plans for the future and the things we don't want to forget.

I wanted to create something beautiful to wrap around all of that.

That's also why a HAYDS piece isn't meant to be one notebook that eventually gets filled up and tossed aside. The leather cover is made to stay with you. The notebooks inside are refillable, so you can replace them, rearrange them and use your HAYDS differently as life changes. You can fill it with HAYDS inserts or notebooks you already love.

The pages may change, but the leather stays.

Leather felt like the perfect material for that because it changes right along with you. It scratches, darkens, creases and softens. The more you carry it, the less perfect it becomes, and somehow the better it looks.

Every HAYDS piece is made entirely by hand, by me, here in Tennessee. I use simple hand tools to cut, punch, rivet, stitch, embroider and finish each piece myself. There's no machinery or production line behind it. Every piece starts and finishes in my hands.

And while I may come back to the same design more than once, no two HAYDS pieces will ever be exactly alike. Every hide has its own grain, markings, texture and character before I ever touch it. From there, it only becomes more uniquely yours.

That's probably my favorite part of all of this.

I make the piece, but you're the one who gives it its story.
